1000 kN, 1500kN and 2000kN Universal Testing machines

These machines are the ideal solution for Central Laboratories for steel testing. The UTM-HPT Series is suitable to perform a wide range of test methods on steel rebars, nuts, bolts, wire-strands, concrete, cement and many other construction materials. It is available in two versions: HPU 200 Series, 1000, 1200, 1500 and 2000 kN capacity, controlled by the HPU 200 computerized control unit and AUTOMAX-T Model, 1000 kN capacity, controlled by the AUTOMAX-T control console. Our proposal is completed by a different machine, 1000/2000kN tension/compression, which is mainly used for high throughput of tensile tests on steel rebars. All models are PC-controlled and come complete with upper and lower hydraulically operated jaws and high precision load cell providing high accuracy from the very beginning of the load scale.

This model is controlled by the new AUTOMAX T control unit and is complete with PC, upper and lower hydraulically operated jaws, complete set of grips for rounds and flats, transverse test attachment and high precision load cell providing high accuracy from the very beginning of the load scale.

Loading frame
The frame consists essentially of a robust four columns frame with three sturdy crossheads: upper is directly connected to the lower one by two main columns; the middle one, moving on two screw columns, can be adjusted through an electric motor by using the dedicated push button panel, in order to set  the required vertical daylight both for compression and tensile tests; the lower is controlled by a simple effect piston centrally positioned. Jaws and wedge grips are included. The tensile jaws are operated by a separate Hydraulic Gripping System with dedicated a push-button panel. The compression tests are performed  between the lower and the mobile middle crossheads, using the suitable accessories.

Power and control console – Automax T
Control console AUTOMAX T features space-saving ergonomic design with small footprint and houses the hydraulic power unit, the electronic system and the PC to manage all the control functions.
Automatically performs steel tensile testing, compression, splitting tests, Elastic Modulus and Poisson’s ratio determination on concrete specimens. See Accessories.
PC and software enable remote control of the complete system.

Description

 

Introduction
This machine has been specifically designed to suit the requirements of Central and Commercial laboratories of the construction industry and Civil engineering in general. This universal tester, in fact, can be used for tensile tests on steel re-bars up to 40 mm dia., flats up to 35×75 mm,  and compression tests on standard concrete specimens. It can also be used, with the appropriate accessory, for transverse and bending test on steel, flexural tests on concrete beams and general compression tests. Specialò accessories are also available for testing steel strands and electro-welded steel  screen.
All the control functions are managed from a standard keyboard and mouse. The frame differ substantially from the old traditional models because of the originality of the design as for example the remote control displacements and gripping systems. The software include a complete suite of programs: tensile, bending, flexure  and compression tests.
Once the specimen has been placed in the machine (using accessories if required) and the specimen data introduced, the test is run completely automatically at the press of a button up to the printout of the test certificate and the storage of the test data.
 
Machine frame, cylinder assembly, load cell

  • Steel base with rigid frame housing the lower grippers
  • Piston/Cylinder assembly mounted on the top of the rigid frame. Load cell incorporated in the piston.
  • Mobile frame consisting of four high tensile strength columns, upper crosshead directly connected to the piston, intermediate crosshead with compression platen and lower crosshead housing the upper grippers.
  • Hydraulically operated gripping system and vertical adjustment by two independent auxiliary cylinders controlled by the push button panel. This unique feature make the machine extremely easy to operate enabling one man to perform the test in a very short time.
  • Crosshead displacement controlled by the use of a bi-directional encoder.

Control console

  • The lower section houses the hydraulic assembly which include: Hydraulic pump, Proportional valve, Hydraulic valves, Heat exchanger to control the oil temperature and the Oil tank.

Grippers

  • Three sets of standard grippers supplied with the machine, for rounds and flats, plus two sets of grip liners to provide maximum bearing and holding surface for specimens of all sizes.

Safety features

Description

 

Robust frame fitted with an upper platen with spherical seat that moves vertically sustained by a spring. The apparatus can be placed and centered directly on the lower machine platen. The 50-C9030 and 50-C9032/H, conforming to EN 196 are designed to test portions of 40x40x160 prisms broken in flexure, while the 50-C9032, conforming to ASTM C109, fitted with compression platens 75 mm dia., and a vertical daylight of 53 mm is used to test 50mm/2” cubes and other little samples as, for example, microcores. The model 50-C9031 is similar to C9030 but with compression platens 40 x 62.5 mm instead of 40 x 40 mm.

The total height of both 50-C9030, 50-C9031 and 50-C9032 apparatus is 195 mm while it’s 225mm for model 50-C9030/H and 50-C9032/H.
Vertical clearance of the compression machine has to be adjusted using suitable distance pieces accordingly. See accessories

Spitting tensile test device for cylindrical specimens model 50-C9000/C with strips 50-C9002
Description

 

Two column steel frame with self-centering base specimen holder and upper load beam suspended with springs for easy adjustment of the specimen. The devices can be easily placed on lower platen of the compression tester using suitable distance pieces to adjust the vertical daylight. The device have to be completed with the packing strips to be inserted between the specimen and the load beams.

Model 50-C9000/C is used for splitting tensile tests on cylindrical specimens.
Model 50-C9070/C is used for splitting tensile tests on concrete block pavers and concrete cubes.

For both models max total height is 370 mm (14.6″). The 370 mm (14.6″) vertical daylight can easily obtained removing the lower platen of the compression tester.
