NDT Strength Evaluation Apparatus

Automatic motorized Pull-Off / Bond strength tester model 58-C0215/AUTO with metal disk
These mechanical test methods are used for concrete strength evaluation with non-destructive techniques (Concrete Schmidt Hammer) or partially destructive methods (Penetration Resistance, Pull-out and Pull-off, Microcore). Even if the latter methods can cause some localized damages, these are small enough not to result in a loss of structural performance.

Standards EN 12504-2 ASTM C805

Rebound test hammer digital model 58-C0181/DGT with accessories
Description

The rebound number determined by this method can be used to assess the uniformity of concrete in situ, to delineate zones or areas of poor quality or deteriorated concrete in structures.
This NDT test method is not intended as an alternative for the compressive strength determination of concrete, but with suitable correlations already saved in the instrument, it provides an estimate of the in situ compressive strength.
The hammer may be used for comparative testing, referenced against a concrete with known strength or against a concrete verified as conforming to a particular strength class.
The rebound hammers measure the rebound of an anvil impacting a plunger in contact with the concrete surface.
With this advanced instrument the rebound value is calculated with an innovative technology taking into account the anvil speed before and after the impact.
This new working principle is equivalent to the traditional measurement of maximum spring length after the impact, but it provides the following benefits:

  • higher accuracy and stability of the readings not affected by wear and tear
  • setting of the impact angle no longer required
  • a check of the device reliability can be performed during each impact, even without the calibration anvil.

Microcore Apparatus

Microcore method is a proven technique for the non destructive evaluation of concrete.

Standards UNI 10766

MICROCORE, complete set for microcore test with mechanical parts and electric drill model 58-C0299
Description

Introduction
Microcore method is a proven technique for the non destructive evaluation of concrete and masonry strength, taking 28 mm dia. cores and then adequately prepared for the compression test. The cores, due to the small size, does not affect the integrity of the structure thus permitting an easy restoration of the cored surface.
This technique can also be used  for assessing the carbonation depth (with the appropriate reagents) and for masonry products to verify their physical condition or to evaluate the compressive strength related to the direction of sampling.

Description
The apparatus consists of the following parts:

  • Electric drill
  • Flanged guide assembly
  • Two clamping pliers to fit the flanged guide assembly to the surface
  • Diamond core bit 28 mm int. dia., 100 mm long
  • Diamond core bit 28 mm int.dia.. 200 mm long
  • Set of accessories comprising 20 anchors, washers and drill bit
  • Two carrying cases

To perform the test, if mains water is not available, a pressure water reservoir 10/15 l cap. should be provided as for example our model 83-D2020. See accessories.

Dimensions and weights:

  • 1st case 500x380x130 mm. 7.5 kg approx
  • 2nd case 390x300x90 mm. 3.8 kg approx

Important note
Core preparation and compression

The flatness of core ends is essential to obtain reliable compression results so it is very important to make sure that the tolerance is within 0.01 mm. See link to other products below.
Furthermore the compression test should be performed with a suitable compression machine considering that the max. required load should be lower than 50 kN. Cement compression testers or small universal testers may be conveniently used.
Main Features

  • The PReSBOX produces a prismatic specimen with nominal dimensions of 450 mm (lenght) x 150 mm (width) x 120 to 185 mm (height)
  • Asphalt prisms prepared in the PReSBOX compactor can be sawn or cored to produce 4-6 prismatic beams or 1-4 cylindrical specimens
  • The PReSBOX can be operated by a single person Produces specimens with excellent air void distribtion and particle orientation
  • Designed for an easy unlocking of the compaction mould, facilitating an effortless speciment extraction at safe height, handling and user safety
