Compressive strength is the main mechanical property to be checked. Flexural strength, also called Modulus of Rupture (MOR), is particularly important when the mixture is to be used for pavements, flagstone, kerbs and other element subjected to tensile loads. Taking into consideration the relatively low values of failure loads and load rates, it is crucial to use automatic testing machines to achieve highly accurate results that are reliable and repeatable.

Description

 

These Multipurpose compression / flexure testers have been designed for various applications in which a limited maximum load is requested, together with a large testing space. They are suitable to determinate compressive strength on lightweight concrete, soil-cement specimen, high strength cement and refractory. 
The large testing space is ideal for performing, with the suitable accessory, splitting tests and flexural tests on concrete specimens. The pedestal is not included and has to be ordered separately. See accessories.

They are available in the two different versions:

 

single compression station, 500 kN or 600 kN cap.:
for compression tests on low strength specimens. The Class 1 accuracy can be extended from 1% of testing machine full scale with special calibration procedures (see Technical Specifications).
 
double station model, 600/15 kN cap.:
extends the possible applications to flexural tests on cement and com­pression tests on low strength specimens. The Class 1 accuracy can be extendedwith special calibration procedures (see Technical Specifications).

Frames and compression platens
High rigidity solid one piece steel frame. Spherical seat allows free alignment at the initial contact with the specimen. For compression platens see Technical Specifications. Pedestal not included. See accessories.

Machine/Frames precision Class. EN 12390-4, ASTM E74
All frames, when connected to a suitable control console, are supplied calibrated to Class 1 starting from 10% of load scale as specified in the Technical Specifications table. By special calibration procedures, it is possible to extend Class 1 load measurement accuracy (see Upgrading Option and Technical Specifications).

Connection to control consoles

All models are fitted with high accuracy load cell/s.

Models fitted with compression platens 165 mm dia. (L28Pxx,L18Pxx) have a vertical span of 200 mm hence can house all standard accessories for cement and mortar testing (see accessories) and furthermore can be used to test other specimens directly on the standard compression platens adjusting, if necessary, the vertical daylight, with the suitable distance pieces (see accessories). Compression platens can be supplied complete with Platen surface hardness certificate.

Description
 
 

Four columns robust frame with single or double test chamber. Simple effect ram with electrical limit switch.
All the models, single or double test chambers, are fitted with 165 mm dia. round compression plates and have to be completed with the suitable accessory. All frames are fitted with precision load cell for load measurement.


Connection to control consoles
The 15 kN load pistons of the double test chamber model 65-L28Z10 and single chamber model 65-L58Z10 connected to Pilot and Automax Control consoles, require the 65-L1400/X5 pressure regulator which.

All frames, when connected to a suitable control console, can be calibrated to Class 1  starting from 10% of load scale as specified in the specification table. By special calibration procedure, it is possible to obtain Class 1 starting from 3 to 300 kN (calibration code 50-C0050/CAL) and starting from 0.5 to 15 kN (calibration code 50-C0050/CAL5). This option has to be specified at time of order.

Safety features
Model 65-L17Z10 include a cylindrical transparent fragment guard. All the other models can be completed with the relevant protection. All models are fitted with ram travel limit switch.

Robust frame fitted with an upper platen with spherical seat that moves vertically sustained by a spring. The apparatus can be placed and centered directly on the lower machine platen. The 50-C9030 and 50-C9032/H, conforming to EN 196 are designed to test portions of 40x40x160 prisms broken in flexure, while the 50-C9032, conforming to ASTM C109, fitted with compression platens 75 mm dia., and a vertical daylight of 53 mm is used to test 50mm/2” cubes and other little samples as, for example, microcores. The model 50-C9031 is similar to C9030 but with compression platens 40 x 62.5 mm instead of 40 x 40 mm.

The total height of both 50-C9030, 50-C9031 and 50-C9032 apparatus is 195 mm while it’s 225mm for model 50-C9030/H and 50-C9032/H.
